How Image Marketing Can Create Profit Problems For Boutique Consulting Firms


"Give us an astronomical budget and we'll produce miracles" - say so many marketing managers at so many boutique consulting firms.

What they really say is that they are ready to waste that budget in the form of image marketing.

They love the concept because its success/failure can't be measured, so marketing managers can drop the heavy burden of responsibility from their own shoulders and can blame someone else for their mistakes and incompetence.

And now they can make themselves heroes without producing one single client out of the millions of dollars dedicated to client acquisition.

No clients, but plenty of brand awareness. I wonder what he would day, if he got his paycheque in brand awareness. There are no new clients, so no new revenues, but the firm can pay its people in brand awareness.

But those times are over. Marketing managers get replaced roughly at the same rate as managing partners change their socks.
